I've been busy lately on making up a guide for people who have problems installing FX mod.
Note: This tutorial is based on FX 1.8, Using Firefox, if you use Internet Explorer its basically the same. For me anyway. Make sure you have a clean installation of Homeworld 2 with 1.1 patch installed. Step by step, here it is: Step 1: Download the .exe format of FX mod 1.85 Link - http://fs05n5.sendspace.com/dl/2707c2b9069..._MOD_1.85en.exe ![]() Step 2: After you have downloaded it, double-click it and an installer should 'pop' up. After clicking the first 'Next' it should look something like this: ![]() For people with poor eye-sight it says E:\Program files\Sierra\Homeworld 2. Install the mod to C:\Program Files\Sierra\Homeworld 2 (which is default installation path for Homeworld 2) or alternatively to where 'YOU' installed Homeworld 2. When you've located your Homeworld 2 installation path, click 'Next'. Step 3: A box should come up saying this, if it doesn't and the setup carries on then its all good. ![]() Click 'Yes'. Step 4: Select your language for FX mod, for me there is only 'English' but for others I don't know... ![]() Click 'Next'. Step 5: Where its going to be located in the start menu, you can skip this step but instead I changed it so if you go to Homeworld 2 in the start menu it will be located there to reduce 'clutter'. ![]() ![]() Click 'Next'. Step 6: Make sure everything is correct... ![]() It should look something like this, for people who skipped step 5 then its still good to go. Click 'Install'. Your almost there. Installation should look like this in case it doesn't. ![]() Step 7: "Installation finished" ![]() Step 8: Make sure it looks 'Ok' ![]() In your Homeworld 2 folder you should have the Homeworld 2 FX launcher, FX uninstaller. (If you don't have that then its ok because you won't need to uninstall FX anyway.*) Oh, and your HW2 files. In your Homeworld 2 Data folder: FX1.85en, FXMODLANG, FXMODLANGSpeech. Double-click your FX launcher and you should have Homeworld 2 main screen look like this: ![]() If everything works and looks like the end result then you did a good job, if you didn't then you screwed up somewhere, or its a hardware\software related issue. *Really if you don't have the FX uninstaller then just remove those file names that I listed. -------------------- "Not many people have the skill of sovereignty, nor can they be emancipated. It looks like the LuaConfig.dll is corrupt, probably a fresh install should fix it, redownloading FX might help to.

If you try to run a mod without 1.1 it restarts your computer.

Hello, wow first post.
I just found a possible solution to error popups ("old file") or even the DLL popup, You will have to install the PATCH program from a CDROM installed game , then you might want to try installing the patch from that CDROM drive. I just did it,having tried to install the patch from my local drive to no success. But I saw i had the patch on the same CD so went at it. CHEERS! UPDATE: on loading some of the games( like the 4th tutorial the game or old version save games) it exists itself entirely. on the one hand the 1.0 to1.1 patch works with the FX loader as it couldn't before on its own. strange. I have a question. I noticed on your menu of Homeworld FX that you had everything on the menu in english. Where as in my menu alot of the buttons are in strange symbols. Is there anyway to remedy my situation?

Me thinks you might of accidently installed the Chinese version. Do the symbols look like the ones on this website? If so then yea you installed the Chinese version
