Alright everybody, I know you all wanted to get rid of me for two weeks but it turns out there's... somewhat usable internet I can borrow to do... well.. nothing but browsing pages, lucky for you yet not so for me I only get a few hours at night (or however long I want to stay up) to myself... due to the prying eyes of... kids *shivers* no, if I don't know you I ain't going to explain it further. Anyway back on track (is it me or am I ranting just a tad bit more than usual), I have a system wide maintenance day set in the calender for the 1^st of January 2010 and whilst normally this shouldn't need any announcement this one is a bit special, for one it will mean the entire site will go offline for most of the day whilst I conduct some yearly maintenance and cleanup and possible patching (hmm, hazard a guess how hard this could be?).

Now this maintenance also includes a forum resynchronise, which the last time this happened I was unaware you all had 'hacked' post counts and they all got whacked to the real one so in order to avoid such a situation again I will require EVERYONE to post here their current post count right now if they wish to keep it for references sake. I will repeat again for those who are too lazy to re-read, all post counts will be reset to their actual number so if you want to keep your hacked one you must post it HERE so it may be rectified once the resync has been completed.

Graphite, the good skin before this one has been culled and now the forum skin unification has been completed. I hope you all like the snow, I think it adds a nice touch for the season whether you believe in it or not.

Well it's a few months delayed but finally the Homeworld FX site is now operational. There's a few bits and pieces missing (honestly there's crap loads) but it'll do for now. Currently there's only a few pages up but we hope to get some more features up in the future.
I discovered that the MP3 Player and the image rotator on the right sidebar where half working, it seems the files management system also starts a new folder when folder A has X files in it, and so now they should both work properly.
In case you haven't already noticed the members bar that mysteriously vanished has now been restored.

You may be asking, what's happening to the skin? I though it was going to get a colour change. Well, that's a very good question however we are still tied between keeping the current colour scheme or changing it to blue, so those who haven't voted please do so as soon as you can, I would like to put this matter to an end as quickly as possible.

Greetings everyone, and welcome to the official release of Hwfx v2 ~Rebirth~! It took a while, but we managed to finish it at last. Enjoy!

What is Hwfx v2 ~Rebirth~ ?
This is the project us, the admins, have been working on for a while. A while ago we noticed the forums became dormant again, but this time it wasn't one day but rather multiple days without anything new. So, we rolled up our sleeves and decided to get to work once again to bring the community back to life. Hence the 'Rebirth' part.

Basically this project complete re-do of all essential components of the forum that is released at once. The amount of changes that have been made are enough to consider is a brand new version of our forum, so we decided to call it Hwfx v2.

What is new?
Without further delay, here is the changelog!

[Major Updates]
* New Skin: Homeworld 2 FX

Thanks to Bromly's hard efforts we finally have an unique skin for our forum! It is an orange/black skin which comes with three very useful navigation boxes at the left and right, forum icons in FX unit style, an embedded youtube video & Image Gallery rotator, .Mp3 player that shows the latest 5 songs and some sweet images of FX on both sides that should make your viewing experience alot more fun!

On a side note, the other skins will most likely be deleted; but if they are kept there will no longer be any work done on them.

* Event: Hwfx v2!

Celebrating the release of our project cannot be done in a better way than actively using it. Therefore, we have prepared a special event for the upcoming week!

* Store Project [3 parts]

The Store has been completely renovated! In fact, so much has been changed that I had to split the update log in three parts here. Don't let my sacrificed weekend go to vain!

1) General Items & Permissions Updates

--- Category descriptions updated.
--- Prices have been adjusted.
--- New items have been added, others have been deleted, others have been renamed and/or got their description updated.
--- Fixed permission errors on some items that would disallow a certain usergroup from buying them.
--- Fixed some errors that would cause an infinite restock with some items and none at all at others.

2) FX Unit Collection System

-- Renamed 'FX Collection System -- ....' into 'FX Units - ......'
-- Addition of the Hiigaran units (30) and Vaygr units (32).
-- The Taiidan have been finished!
-- The Kadeshi, Progenitors and Turanics have been updated.
-- All prices, on both the units ánd goodie bags, have been halved or at least received a huge discount.
-- Some units have received a description update.
-- The same changes as mentioned in section #1 (above) have been manually applied to every unit as well.

3) Quizzes

-- The FX Chronicles quiz series have received a HUGE update. Head over there now and test your knowledge of FX by taking on the quiz for every race. Get a score of 50% of above for a goodie bag of all unit classes of the concerning race and 100 Credits

-- The first three quizzes in the FX Chronicles quiz series have been updated and had their pass percentage lowered. Questions should now be easier to understand and answer as well.

As for the people who failed the 'old' quizzes, you can consider both quizzes as 'Passed' under these conditions:

Have a score of at least 4 on the Second Quiz.
Have a score of at least 3 on the Third Quiz.

Match the criteria? Send me your Certificate of Completion I through the store (instructions on how to do that @ item description) for the 'Certificate of Completion' Award.

Don't match the criteria? Don't worry, we will have another Revision quiz soon!

* Image Gallery

The renewed Image Gallery has opened its doors once again to welcome everyone back. Explore the many new albums start filling them with your images. Everything posted in the Homeworld Series, Homeworld2: FX, EVE Online or Sins of a Solar Empire sections will count towards the requirement for the Art Speculator reward.

* Updated Ranks

The ranks have received a big makeover; new ranks have been added, others have been renamed and the postcount requirement for every rank has been adjusted. A new item containing a complete list of the current ranks should be up in the Article Index soon.

The 'Wing Leader' group has been renamed into 'Loyalist'. Every user who reaches the 500 postcount will be promoted to this group.

Additionally, Dark_Safi and Dr_Trickster have been added to the Loyalist group since they surpassed the new requirement for that group. A late congratulations!

* Awards Updated

Your profile page looks much better with some shining awards on it! In order to bring you guys closer to getting your hands on the awards we have lowered the requirements. Additionally, everyone who has met the requirements for a certain award in the past but didn't receive it has it now. Our apologies for the long delay!

[Forums & Settings]
* Checked and updated all usergroup settings, permissions & benefits.
* Updated Forum Descriptions.
* Deleted Battle Arena; essential topics moved to FX - Interactive.
* Some forums have been provided with additional information about the section itself. These bits can be found atop of the topic list (if the forum has it).
* Updated the FX: File Center. It is now more organized, adding a table of contents and some small reorganizing.

There is always more to do and more than eventually will be done -- but for now please enjoy the project we have spent alot of our free time on just for you guys. Thanks for staying with us up until now, and I hope as many people as possible will continue to be a part of our community.

Based on the activity, I have come to understand the limit we originally set that separates an active thread from a dead one (60 days) is something that belongs on a more active forum. So, for now I have changed this limit to 120 days (4 months) until the board is starting to start living up a bit again.
